Hedra ArticlesSeptember 2008 “NAKOTA” MY PARTNER OF 11 YEARS I have enjoyed my dog partner since he was 6 weeks old, which is when he came to live with me! Now that Nakota is on his final journey I am finally hearing his main message of staying in the NOW; it is the most important lesson for all humans to learn and follow through with. This is what Nakota’s message is: “I have tried my entire life to get Mom to realize that her power is in the “now” not yesterday, not tomorrow, not even a minute ago. We animals must stay in the “now” because that is the only time that we are in control of our lives. I don’t even remember yesterday’s.
I have been working with Mom ever since I had a big stroke and she almost lost it all! I kept telling her that I was all right, but she being a Healer couldn’t hear me. You see when I am experiencing something like a stroke, I am in the NOW, I do not know it is a stroke, all I know is my body is prone and I am staying in the “now” breathing when I can and just taking every second that I have. If I don’t make it, that doesn’t matter to me because if I am in the “now” I don’t realize that it may be my last breath. There is no pain in my body if I stay in the “now” but, if I get all caught up in Mom’s reaction then and only then do I start to acknowledge what is going on inside me. Listening to Mom’s thoughts bring me back into my physical body in a flash; if she isn’t around then I can leave my physical body and that is much more preferred; I kind of float outside of my body when it isn’t comfortable to be in it.
When she gets all upset, it is my choice to re-enter my body and I only do so to help relieve her fears of loosing me. Only then does my life get a lot more complicated, but this is called LOVE and I will do almost anything for my Mom. (Just for some clarity here, I won’t become the prey for a cougar or bear to save my Mom). Yet she knows through Communicating with me, that I want my control back to do my own journey according to my way of staying in the “now.” Basically my message is not only about animals, but humans as well. Staying in the “now” is how life stays the best it can be. Every minute counts and every minute we stay alive is pure bliss; that is what is important while being physical.” Because of Nakota I have really started to catch myself daily when I leave the path of staying in the “NOW.” My days are better when I stay in the NOW, because I am happier, less stressed and my body doesn’t have as many aches and pains that used to be a daily routine. We people are very lucky when we share our lives with animals for THEY ARE our teachers. Life is about finding ways to be happy, for only then can you truly be a balanced person. Go in a good way. . . smile more (smiles feed our heart)! Diana Lynn Countryman Siderides
