Traditional Reiki I Workshop Review- November, 2007
I recently had
the pleasure of being invited to join a two day class and get
attuned to the first level of Reiki. Studying spiritualism for the
last seven years, it had come to my attention that I needed to
experience exactly what people meant when they were talking about
feeling and seeing energy. I have had very brief moments of each
and wanted to escalate those encounters, but had no idea how. A
couple of friends of mine are into Reiki and after listening to them
describe it and having experienced the healing properties of Reiki
in a session with them, I decided that this was just what I was
looking for.
Searching into
Reiki on the internet, I signed in for an online course. Following
the course step by step, at its conclusion, got absolutely nothing
out of it. It was a complete waste of time and money. I still felt
that Reiki was the way to go for me, so when I heard a few other
friends were gathering a class together for a live Reiki training I
immediately jumped in.
The
instructor, Diana Siderides, is a Master in traditional Reiki and
studied under one of the only three Grand Masters of Reiki that
there are, and has practiced this form of energetic healing for
about thirty-one years. For me, those two facts alone, told me she
was the instructor I was looking for. I definitely did not want some
watered down version, interpreted version, or someone’s hybrid
version. Whenever I want to know or learn something, I always go to,
or get as close as possible to, the source, where the lesson is in
its truest and most pure, original form. Also, the fact that Diana
has been practicing with traditional Reiki for over thirty-one
years, tells me she has an extensive working knowledge and practical
experience with it. In my book, there is absolutely nothing more
powerful than personal experience!
As a person, I
love Diana’s sense of humor. Although she keeps it well hidden, when
it finally seeps through, it shows the inner joy of a life filled
with richness and the peace of finding and fulfilling a noble
purpose. What Ms. Siderides can not hide is, her genuine love of
nature’s aesthetic beauty, her deep felt compassion for all life,
animal, plant, and mineral, as well as human, and her veracious
concern to aide and help guide all to a more serene and tranquil
coexistence.
Diana, the
instructor, has a direct, no-nonsense, and to the point style of
teaching, that can be likened to a breath of fresh clean air. You
may not be use to it and have to gulp it in at first, but in time
your body realizes this is the way it should be and was meant to be,
and you begin to appreciate the crisp clearness of it, making you
want to absorb as much as possible. Her two day trainings have no
time for “fillers” as they are literally packed with a perfect mix
of teachings, hands on experience, and spiritualistic connections.
And of course, she has an enormously vast array of personally
acquired examples (stories) of her life working with Reiki, to
astound and open exciting new pathways of unlimited possibilities
for her students.
My personal
encounter with Diana’s Level I Reiki training, unlocked a multitude
of emotions and energies within me. Under Diana’s guidance, I
learned how to connect to the healing energy known as Reiki, (which
loosely translates from Japanese to “universal life force that
animates all living things”), and channel it through myself,
virtually becoming a receiving antennae and conduit, into the energy
field and body of a fellow being. When introduced into ones body,
Reiki removes blockages in a person’s energy flow and resets their
system to its original state of perfect health and harmony. While
still considering my self to be a novice and my almost daily
practices of Reiki being done mainly on myself, I have experienced
amazing sessions with this force. I literally and physically feel
this healing energy enter into my body and flow through my hands
into the subject. When the subject is myself, I feel Reiki
re-entering my body through my hands where I can relax and leave it
to clear and heal the most pertinent issues of my body, or if I let
my ego get involved, I can direct it to any part of my body I
choose. The calmness and peace of mind, not to mention the
excitement of every cell in my body jubilant from getting a recharge
after each session, is indescribable. And my cats, one in
particular, never misses a session, as they instinctually gravitate
towards and love to bask in this natural life force.
While I know
Reiki is not the totality of my life’s calling, it is so congruent,
that I have determined it mandatory and have scheduled my Reiki
Level II training.

REIKI II WORKSHOP REPORT
WOW!!!! Luckily I'm a writer and I never run into the problem of
"there's nothing more to say"!
I attended a Reiki II workshop this weekend near Emmett at the home
of my Reiki Teacher and Reiki Master - Diana Siderides. It was so
incredible, so empowering, and eye opening on so many levels. Just
when you think it's gotten as cool or powerful as it possible could,
Spirit opens up another door, we climb another flight of stairs and
it keeps spiraling ever upward.
For those unfamiliar with Reiki - it is a hands on healing practice
in which the practitioner calls in the universal life energy known
as Reiki and channels it through to himself, a person, an object, a
situation, etc......Begun in the 19th century in Japan (long LONG,
but beautiful, story) it first came to the US in the middle of the
20th century, and now has quite a following, with thousands of
practitioners.
There are three levels of Reiki - I, 2, and 3, and each level is a
deeper initiation into the spiritual and energetic power of the
energy. In First degree, we become connected to the power through
attunements in which the teacher connects us with the energy, and
learn how to use the flow through hand positions. During Second
Degree, we were attuned on a more powerful level, and learned
symbols to use in our practice to call in even more energy and to
practice distantly - i.e. the person or object we were treating did
not have to be in the same physical space as us.
There's obviously a lot more about Reiki, but this will suffice as a
general introduction. Check out the internet to learn more about the
wide world of Reiki, its history and its practices.
In
Second Degree, I found the energy of the house and my hands to be so
strong it was almost surreal. Diana, my teacher whom I have known
for over a year now, is so full of healing energy and love and
REALNESS that it was wonderful just to be in her presence. She has
been practicing Reiki for over 30 years and her attunement,
connection, and understanding of the Reiki Consciousness is
amazing.
I
found during this class that I was open to hearing and seeing more
about these aspects. I meet a lot of healers in the work that I do,
and often, as is the case with most human beings, I make an
impression of them based on a lot of things when I meet and interact
with them. From my gut, head, and obviously my own past experiences,
and the words that come out of their mouths. With Diana I realized
that I had put her in my life as an amazing Reiki teacher, but there
were things about her life that I couldn't place in my own
understanding of Enlightenment or being awake. What I found this
time was that either she opened up or revealed herself more, or I
was suddenly open and aware to more, but I know that she is WAY
deeper than I realized, and on, what my TOSA friends would call (see
last blog message) the level of Ascension Awareness, while I am
still operating a lot of the time out of Spiritual Activism.
At
any rate, I now hold her in my heart as a Teacher of all things,
someone to look up to, and a spiritual guide. I'm so grateful that I was open to that experience, and open to
having my ideas challenged and to letting them go.
While I can't go into the symbol details or much more, I will say
that allowing myself to go deeper I gave myself such a huge gift,
and feel today that my ability as a healer is more rightly aligned
with the Universe, and that while I still have life doubts, and all
of that, there exists a place and a power I can go to inside myself
and all around me, that exists on a higher vibration but is ever
available. For instance, when I was with Diana I felt and saw myself
as a successful Reiki practitioner, and when I pulled into my
driveway, I felt that it was a pipe dream, that no one would ever
respond to my ad, and that I would always be scrounging for money,
blah blah blah. I know that this is a common feeling in this Valley,
particularly about the lack and not-enoughness, and that I have the
CHOICE as to whether I will buy into it - operate at that level - or
choose to operate on another level. I don't have to do anything.
That's my report from this weekend. I offer it to you in hopes that
it will spark your own inner and outer explorations!

for Animal Communications
This is a Testimony from a young man
that had an Animal Communication from me at the March Wellness Fair
at the Boise Fairgrounds on March 29, 2008. He had come back on the
30th to tell me how much better his cat was since I had talked to
her.
"Ever since my session, my
relationship with my cat Doodle has completely changed. Now that
I'm actually listening, I know
exactly what she wants
and a lot of what she's thinking. I've made a bunch of changes
around my apartment that have made her happier and don't feel
guilty anymore for having to leave for a long time each day and
leaving her alone at home. Everything has just gotten so much
better".

To Kristin:
You don't know me, but I want to reassure you about Diana.
When my wife Marcy and I added a cat to our household, our tranquil
existence changed.
Unfortunately the new cat refused to tolerate our easy going cat, and
you could say "all hell broke loose."
Anyway, we had to do something. Either get rid of the new cat or
......; so we hired Diana Siderides to do an animal communication. I
must admit I was very skeptical but we were grasping for straws by then
and figured we had nothing to lose.
What
is the point of this? I want to assure you that Diana is the "real
deal." Since we met we have developed quite a relationship. I have
attended one of her Reiki classes and her Inner Energy class. I still
struggle with it because I am not a "natural", however I know the value
and understand what is happening. Everything is energy. Period. Reiki
is working on the energy level; the ancients and Native
Americans understood and practiced energy healing. Science has
attempted to replace energy work with logic and rational thought at the
expense of understanding the complete picture. Frankly we need both
practices in my opinion.
Reiki is just one of several energy healing modalities, although it is
widely recognized and is probably the most popular. This is not Voo Doo.
Unfortunately there are always the "snake oil" salesmen out there making
claims and not producing results. Diana is not one of those. In fact,
she is a traditionalist who was trained by the last of the Reiki Grand
Masters. That is sort of like training under Freud and Carl Jung
themselves!! She doesn't fool around; I know, I was in her class.
I
could go on and on. I have a huge respect for Diana and her abilities.
She really does care and your fears are probably like mine were. That's
ok, but please trust her abilities and her intentions. They are
excellent and above reproach.
Remember everything is energy. Everything in the world and the universe
is comprised of energy, including us and our pets.
By
the way, we have two cats still, thanks to Diana's help. If I have any
advice, it would be to hear what you need to hear not what you want to
hear. And that may be difficult, I know it was for us.

Lobo a male cat – Why the aggression, diarrhea &
spraying?
Immediately Lobo wanted me to help with
his physical problems that are causing 2 of the above issues: spraying & diarrhea. He had what I would call ‘stones’ in his rectum, but I get
from him that there were painful crustations (11 total) that had
accumulated back there. He has been having the need to strain when
urinating and thus the spraying. I gave him 21 minutes of Reiki and he
settled some and was more at peace. He had an “owey” on his left front
paw, fixed easily. He has a bruise behind and above his right eye that
is still tender. He got whacked by something like a broom?! Or a stick
held by that woman. He doesn’t seem to like your mother, she is always
pestering him and he does not like that.
Lobo is a Cat’s cat; he is
straightforward and erect in his stance. He appears to have longer hair
than a normal cat and not long like a longhaired cat. He and Buster
like to prowl around, but it seems that Buster is always following his
lead. Lobo says that Buster is his best “bud”.
Aggression is mostly coming out because
of the pain inside of his body. And the fact that you are not letting
him do what he wants to do. Lobo wants to be outside more and I asked
him if he would be good when outside and he said, “No”. He has the need
to want to prowl outside and get in to trouble. He would settle for
having the ability to prowl anywhere he wants on the inside of the
house, no closed doors. Lobo is now a very adult male and he is feeling
confined and this is not to his liking. Some of his spraying is coming
from NEW scents inside the house that were not there before and he feels
the need to reassert himself as to his territory. The Reiki would help
him to find his own peace of mind. And he definitely enjoyed the short
session that I gave him.

Buster a male cat – Stop spraying downstairs, another cat
okay?
Buster is a very laidback cat that is
comfortable in his own skin! He has been looking forward to this
communication since Lobo told him that it feels good!
The ‘spraying’ is a hard issue for him
as well as Lobo. He says we have been doing it for so long; it would be
hard to stop. It started because we didn’t like the smells of those
other people and we sprayed to get rid of their thoughts concerning us
as well as animals in general. Lobo told me that if we sprayed, we
could silence them. Does Mom know that they don’t like us, that they
think we are dumb animals? Why would we want to be nice to them? But I
might be willing to pull myself in a little, but I don’t think Lobo
will. He has changed since we have come here; he isn’t content like I
am. I could sleep all day and not have a care in the world, but Lobo
has to be on the prowl looking for things to get into. That is why he
is being more aggressive with her friends, yes he is jealous, but it is
more than that, it is territorial for sure. But Mom has to see it from
our eyes or from our perspective; if we were in control we would not let
them in the house at all. And now you are telling me, that we are never
in control?! Wow, that is a lot for a Cat to have to hear!
Going outside puts the fear in me beyond
my thinking! Yes, I would love to go outside as she asks, but does she
realize what she is asking? When I was little they would put me outside
in this big barnyard of space, my eyes were ‘wild’ with everything I
could see and though how yummy many things were, but no one told me,
that things wanted to eat me, I almost (several times) didn’t back into
the building before being killed by larger animals than me. But my
instincts say I should be outside and my FEARS are worse and stronger
than my instincts. I would want her to hold me, when she takes me
outside, I don’t want to be on the ground so that I can be attacked, and
those memories are so scary for me. Would she do that for me, hold
m??? Maybe we could work up to me being on a leash again. . . I don’t
know. . . Could we start with just holding me or lying on her lap for
our outings outside?
Another Cat? Doesn’t she realize that
we won’t be as important to her, if she does that? I don’t know if that
is such a good idea. Lobo is not open to such a request, but then it is
always me that has to be the go-between for us. Another cat would not
be a good idea, how would be able to stay together as “buds”? I don’t
think so.

for Inner Energy
Mystical Communication
I found myself seated in a half circle with 9 other people
waiting for the workshop to begin. Usually before any kind
of class or workshop I have an intention of what I would like to
take from it. This one was different. A friend had
told me about the instructor but I had never really met her, we
were in Montour, a small bump in the road between Horseshoe Bend
and Emmett, and I had no idea what the workshop was about.
It was named “Inner Energy” and that, along with my friend’s
confidence in the instructor, was enough to peak my interest
enough to be sitting in the half circle.
What I learned over the next 3 days literally changed the way I
see myself and the world as it exists around me. Looking
back at the workshop it would be safe to say that it is a
mystical communications course. It takes the concept and
experience of intuition to a whole new level. Like many I have
had intuitive feelings about certain places, events, and people
but I had never really understood how it happened and why it
happened at times and other times it did not. Diana, our
instructor, carefully showed us that intuition is merely a
non-verbal communication between you and the “non-physical”;
whether you call it God, Source, Spirit, Guides, Assistants,
Angels, or what ever. The part that gets fascinating about
non-verbal communication is that once you understand it you can
communicate with all “entities” that are non-verbal. Let
me say it again, you can communicate back and fourth with
non-verbal beings; small children, animals, spirit guides /
assistants… The idea of this even being possible was not
new to me. We have always known that animals communicate
back and fourth non-verbally and it has been documented that
siblings that are very close can do so as well. I had
heard that some indigenous tribes also practice the art of
telepathy. I had never heard of “cross communication”
between humans and animals for instance. In the Inner
Energy class you don’t hear about them much either…you
experience them! To hear about these things is one thing,
to experience them is another!
We did some pretty fascinating things in our small group setting
but the real power came when I was able to do this in my
everyday life. Diana is a master at showing one how to
come in alignment with another on an energetic level and thus
being in resonance with them opening up the channels of
communication.
It was a good thing that I didn’t have any intentions or
preconceived notions for the class before it started, because
anything that I would have come up with would have been blown
out of the water. Inner Energy was such a rich and eye
opening experience I would recommend it for everyone, especially
people with small children and animal lovers. I have
neither pets nor kids and my life has still been greatly
enriched by the experience.

I began making spirit-filled pillows
(through I didn’t understand that part of the process) in 1995 for
my friend Diana Siderides who is a Traditional Reiki Master and
taught me Reiki and Inner Energy (a phenomenal class
that teaches you about who you really are and
what you are capable of doing with energy). I wanted to give
her a gift for all that she had helped me to accomplish and be. She
was a rehabber of raptors and had a Great Horned owl named PAX. I
was walking through our very small town quilt store when a lady came
up to me and handed me a bolt of material with owl panels on it. I
didn’t know the woman, would probably have never found the material
on my own and to be truthful, I believe she was probably an angel
who manifested the material as the shop keeper wondered where it had
come from herself as she didn’t remember ordering it.
I learned
early on when working with Diana to not question anything that
happened out of the “ordinary” because once you learn Inner
Energy, you will understand that nothing happens without
purpose and it is all orchestrated by an energy much larger than
what we can imagine, so just go with it and be grateful. So I had
never made a pillow before though I had spent many years sewing
clothes and quilts out of necessity. This owl pillow was not one
that was just going to be sewn up with a backing and a pillow form
slide in between – oh no, it was going to be hand-quilted to give it
texture so it would stand out and be noticed. So many hours later
and with lots of guidance from the spirit world by way of an unseen
“voice” the pillow was done. I felt guided to do a “ceremony” that
changes with each pillow, as the energies of each pillow are unique
and individual.
As I began making pillows for more and more people, messages from
the spirit world began to come through as I was working on the
pillows. I acknowledge that I apparently have a “design team” that
gives me “mental pictures” of the pillows for the intended person
and then we go around my room of fabrics and pick the fabrics. I’ve
gotten to where I leave the sewn pieces out overnight before
completing the pillows because oftentimes the “design team” will
rearrange the pieces and come up with a unique design of their own.
I always look forward with excitement and anticipation when I go
into my sewing room the next day to see what the final design is.
Once the pillow is finished; I receive the message of the spirits of
the pillow in its entirety; do the ceremony at sunrise, sunset or
full-moon cycle as guided.
I am totally guided by the design team when making the pillows and
know nothing other than name and address of the person I am making
these pillows for – (also learned through Inner Energy).
It amazes me still to this day when I get an email back saying how
on purpose the message had been for the person. The pillows carry
the energies and different people feel different things from the
pillows as they use them.
Through Diana’s visions, I have expanded my spirit-filled pillow
line to include spirit-filled soaps (no messages with the soaps,
just lots of blessings as you use it); spirit-filled massage table
covers; and now after making a spirit-filled quilt for her dog
Nakota (see Diana’s testimony below) she has encouraged me to make
smaller quilts for cats and dogs to also reap the benefit of the
healing colors and healing energies that accompany each quilt.
I can’t begin to explain any of it and won’t other than to say it
has been a wonder gift that I have been blessed with and I will use
it so long as people continue to be blessed by this gift. Please

Diana’s
testimony on Nakota’s quilt:
I had asked
Jeri to make a “quilt” for my Australian Shepherd, Nakota, who
stopped wanting to go with me in the truck for longer drives; he
kept telling me that the truck was hurting him; I am an Animal
Communicator and a Traditional Reiki Master. I had family visit
from Kentucky in August and my cousin, Alice, was riding in the back
bench seat with Nakota and she told me, “Why do you make Nakota ride
in the truck when he is having so much back pain?” (It is always
Nakota’s choice to ride in the truck, I do not force him). This is
when I realized I needed a quilt for just him, so that he could reap
the healing energies for himself.
When Jeri
sent it to me, I loved the design of it and the Spirit Energies were
very strong and I thought I would try it myself, when the message
came through fast, “WE are only for Nakota.” So I left it on the
floor and Nakota checked it out and wouldn’t lie on it, till I put
it in the truck:
“Nakota
totally became ONE with the quilt/cover you made for him going and
coming back from the Ola, Idaho area where we walk on Sunday’s; he
just kind of melted into it! He is now sleeping on it every night
too!”
What a
difference in his body language now; he enjoys the rides more and
when he needs to lie down, he tries hard to become the quilt and he
looks very comfortable.

I had heard
about Jeri's massage table covers and already first hand knowledge
of the quality and power of her work from the four pillows she
has made for me, decided that the cover would greatly enhance the
Reiki sessions for my clients and I ordered one. Upon receiving it
and opening the package, I was literally left speechless from the
beauty of this "table cover" and considered hanging this work of art
on the wall and not even using it for my clients, but I couldn't
resist trying it out for myself.
After just a few minutes of lying on it I actually had to turn and
air conditioner on which was less than a foot away from me and put
it on full power to keep from sweating! This kept up for almost tow
weeks of daily sessions on myself. My body has since acclimated to
the awesome energies of my table cover, now it feels like sitting in
a heated car seat.
